Director Marketing Freeman & Studio Blue
Freeman · United States, Texas - Dallas
About The Role
About Us The Freeman Company is a global leader in events, on a mission to redefine live for a new era. With a data-driven approach and the industry’s largest network of experts, The Freeman Company's insights shape exhibitions, exhibits, and events that drive audiences to action. The integrated full-service solutions leverage a 99-year legacy in event management as well as new technologies to deliver moments that matter. Summary The Director of Marketing, Freeman & Studio Blue is a senior brand builder and demand-generation leader ready to own two of TFC’s most important growth engines. This role leads the integrated marketing efforts across Freeman’s two lines of business – Events & Exhibit Services and AV Production – and the Studio Blue brand, with equal accountability for building brand and generating demand. This position owns two connected mandates: clarify and scale each brand’s story in market – sharpening the Freeman Difference and Intelligent Innovation narrative, expanding the demand and awareness for the AV Production line of business within Freeman, and establishing Studio Blue as a creative partner rather than a production vendor. This role develops and leads the strategy that builds the brand and converts that credibility into measurable pipeline and revenue. This role also leads a high-performing team through a period of active growth, with the judgment to know when to align centrally and when to move fast independently. This position will support our Marketing team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. This position is based out of our North Dallas office in Dallas, TX. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Brand Strategy – Clarify and Scale the Story Own the Freeman Difference narrative across Events & Exhibit Services and AV Production, establishing Intelligent Innovation as a core differentiator and shifting perception from vendor to strategic partner. Give each Freeman line of business a distinct, defensible market position – sharp enough that buyers know why they’d choose one over the other. Position Studio Blue as a creative production partner, not a production vendor, and establish awareness of its distinction of services in the marketplace by building the case studies, content, and presence. Drive integrated marketing strategies together with content, campaigns and thought-leadership visibility designed for how buyers discover vendors today, including LLM-era discovery. Demand Generation – Convert Story into Revenue Own the full demand engine – content, social, events, and pipeline – for Freeman, the Freeman AV Production line of business and Studio Blue, each tuned to how that audience buys. Partner with the Digital Commerce team on the Exhibitor segment to ensure brand consistency across messaging and brand guidelines as well as content alignment. Build AV Production into a genuine growth engine: increase visibility before the RFP stage and stand up a dedicated demand and content strategy. Equip sales and growth teams with the positioning, tools, and content to convert demand into pipeline; own MQL-to-SQL conversion and pipeline contribution across all three areas. Identify and activate high-impact Catalyst and Presence-tier events that build trust and generate leads without over-investing in low-yield event volume. Team Leadership Build, lead, and develop a high-performing marketing team, with direct accountability for culture, talent growth, and performance. Create clarity of ownership so Freeman, Freeman AV Production, and Studio Blue each get focused attention without duplicated effort. Coach the team toward proactive ownership – surfacing solutions, not obstacles. Recruit and develop talent capable of operating at the pace and precision the brands require. Cross-Functional & Cross-Brand Collaboration Represent Freeman and Studio Blue in cross-brand TFC marketing initiatives, protecting what makes each brand distinct while staying consistent with enterprise brand architecture. Partner with TFC parent brand, thought leadership, and shared services teams (Consumer Insights, Content, Social Media, Events Marketing, Consumer Insights) to bring enterprise resources to bear on Freeman and Studio Blue priorities. Partner with sales/growth leadership on account based marketing and vertical strategies where brand and demand efforts should concentrate for maximum revenue impact. Report brand health, pipeline contribution, and demand-engine performance to executive stakeholders with rigor, owning real numbers (engagement, conversion rate, awareness lift), not just activity. Education & Experience 10+ years of marketing experience, including demonstrated success building brand and driving demand generation in B2B, services, or experiential/events environments. Proven experience managing multiple brands or lines of business simultaneously without losing distinctiveness in either. A track record of building and developing high-performing teams, including hiring, coaching, and creating a strong culture. Experience partnering with sales or revenue leadership on pipeline-generating marketing strategy. Experience in live events, exhibit services, AV Production, or experiential marketing strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. A bias toward proactive leadership: brings solutions and point-of-view rather than waiting for direction, and drives clarity in ambiguity rather than escalating it. Sharp instincts for translating market and competitive dynamics into marketing strategy – not just campaign execution. Executive presence and the communication skill to represent two brands and two lines of business credibly with senior stakeholders. Strong financial and performance acumen – comfortable owning conversion, pipeline, and brand-health metrics, not just creative output. Creative, resourceful, and solutions-oriented, comfortable building structure and narrative where little exists. Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, develop, and hold a high-performing team accountable.
