Expert Field Service Technician

Xylem is looking for an Expert Field Service Technician to report to our Garner, NC location and provide field service support for customer equipment across multiple customer sites and locations.

What your day will look like as an Expert Field Service Technician

The Expert Field Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing advanced mechanical, electrical, and diesel-powered equipment at customer sites. This role works independently with minimal supervision while supporting multiple systems and customers, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. The technician will perform preventative maintenance, manage parts inventory, identify and correct safety concerns, and provide exceptional customer support while serving as a technical resource for junior team members.

This position requires frequent travel to customer locations, with overnight stays depending on business needs.

Position Requirements for Expert Field Service Technicians

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
  • Clean driving record
  • Valid driver's license
  • Completion of required driver qualification documentation, including MVR, FMCSA, and DOT compliance requirements
  • 3–7 years of technical field service or related work experience preferred

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, diesel, or fusion equipment experience (depending on business unit)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems using sound critical thinking and diagnostic skills
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and equipment repairs in the field
  • Ability to work independently while coaching and mentoring less experienced technicians
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and smart devices
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to customers and internal teams
  • Proven ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and deliver results in dynamic environments
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and protecting both company and customer equipment
  • Ability to work collaboratively while demonstrating accountability, innovation, and ownership

**The estimated salary range for this position is $29/hr-$35/hr. Job postings will include a wide salary range, with each role's pay falling within that range. Actual starting salary is based on factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions.**
