About The Role

Job Title R&D Engineer Commercial Tread Compounds Job Purpose Joining a dynamic and motivated compound development team, the R&D compound development engineer will lead design, develop and validate innovative compound solutions for the future Bridgestone products. The candidate will play a key role in the development of new commercial compound development through his/her solid knowledge on Material Science, Chemistry and industrial process technology, covering a wide range of activities from design thinking of compound prototype, laboratory investigation, compound validation on tire until industrialization stage. Responsibilities Design, develop and validate new tread compound formulations providing proposals, solutions and original ideas along cross functional team-working with the Raw Material Development, Pattern Design Engineering, Tire Design, Manufacturing and Product Category Management teams. Support and collaborate with Raw materials, Pattern and modeling Design for implementation of most advanced technology solutions in tribology, fracture mechanics, durability, mixing, curing and extrusion technologies Promote Open Innovation projects with Bridgestone Partners & Academia. Work effectively with technicians, R&D researchers and Management of Bridgestone EMIA Technical Center, actively taking part to R&D cross-functional teams. Collaborate with Bridgestone Corporate Functions, Bridgestone America and Bridgestone Japan and Bridgestone Europe manufacturing plants. Qualifications & Experience Required Education, Master, Other certification: Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or any other related field of study. Experience (years): Preference will be given to candidates with background in material science (polymers, thermoplastics, composites, foaming technology, adhesives and innovative materials), organic chemistry, practical experience in compound development (including experience on mixing, extrusion and curing), materials simulation and modeling. Technical Skills: Digital mindset: solid knowledge of MS Office package and digital software as Matlab, Python. Skills in machine learning, big data analytics & computer vision is preferable. Languages Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English Soft/Behavioral Skills: Goal-oriented, motivated, creative and collaborative. Able to work within teams with strong communications skills. Salary range: € 37,601.10 - 45,500 The salary range is based on gender-neutral criteria: applicable CCNL requirements, responsibilities, working conditions and market benchmarks for the role and location. Final compensation will be determined based on gender-neutral criteria: experience, skills, and internal equity.
