Senior Engineer - Mechanical (FI)

About The Role
Incumbent will be the part of WSP in India – Finland MEP Team (P&B). He/she will be responsible to carryout the mechanical services engineering designs for various building projects, as on required. Work with other engineers and perform calculations in coordination with our Finland/India engineers.
Technical
- Focus on the delivery of high-quality technical design drawings and specifications to the required regulations
- Develop the technical capabilities of the team
- Contribute to technical solutions on projects
- Initiate and participate in design peer reviews
- Ensure internal quality procedures are followed
- Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline and appreciate the basic technical principles and drivers of other disciplines
- Assist and support mentorship for junior engineers within the team
- Attending project meetings with the various other teams in India
Manage project delivery and leadership
- To act as project manager (PM) on selected projects by managing the successful delivery of high quality multi and single disciplinary projects
- Design, review and deliver high quality technical mechanical services engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and reports to the required regulations.
- In conjunction with team lead in India and lead country identify, assess, and manage project risks and secure the best commercial return from the project.
- To ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
- Ensure project programs are met and advise on any foreseen delays
- Participate and support internal multi-discipline knowledge sharing initiatives.
- Identify and flag additional fees to the local CRC Head of MEP
Key Competencies / Skills
Mandatory Skills
- The applicants should possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering
- The applicant will have proven experience in the HVAC & Plumbing services engineering designs with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.
- Must be technically good in heat load and ventilation load calculations, duct & pipe sizing and pressure drop calculations
- Must be technically good in equipment selection such as ventilation fans, Chillers, AHUs, FCUs, boilers, pumps etc.
- Carryout preparation of technical submittals of various materials, equipment’s etc.,
- Hands on experience on drafting/3D modelling software’s like AutoCAD, MEP Revit etc.
- Preferred familiarity with technical software’s, such as HAP, Hevacomp, IES, SES etc.
- Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
- Experience of delivering international projects.
- The role requires involvement in numerous projects from an early stage to providing fit for construction stage designs
- Good working knowledge of BIM software packages
- Proven ability to produce detailed drawings (plans, sections & details) from engineers’ basic sketches
- Excellent working knowledge of REVIT Software (version 2021 and above). Including HVAC and plumbing services modelling, content creation (parametric and non-parametric families), coordination with structural and MEP elements, Revit schedules, managing work sets/ links/ visibilities, sheet setup and collaboration.
- The successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will take on a key role in project work, focused on timely delivery and technical excellence.
- The role requires involvement in numerous projects from an early stage.
- Experience and knowledge in MagiCAD for AutoCAD/Revit will be value added.
- Excellent command of written and verbal English
Desired Skills
- A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential
- Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
- Should possess membership to an accredited engineering body i.e., ISHRAE, ASHRAE, CIBSE, IMechE, European Buildings Codes & Standards
- Work towards achieving EngTech/IEng/Chartered engineer/professional license
- Applicants need to be able to demonstrate good management and technical skills and be capable of working both within the team and independently, as dictated by workload
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Punctual and able to meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 12 years relevant work experience
- Experience of MS Office Suite of Programs
- Comprehensive experience of technical design and associated discipline software.
