Clinical Lab Assistant - Core Lab

Under supervision, may collect venous blood samples by venipuncture and capillary puncture on all nursing units and in the outpatient testing area. Instructs patients in the collection of urine samples in the outpatient area. Prepares the patient and collects samples for tolerance tests and other testing as required. May perform EKG procedures. May assist in transporting patients. Processes laboratory specimens which may include registering, ordering test, centrifuging, and preparing specimens for send outs, monitoring work lists and distributes patient results as requested. Assists in monitoring morgue activities if required. The working conditions include those usually experienced in clinical laboratory areas and on Nursing Units.
