Certified Lactation Educator - Obstetrics

The Certified Lactation Educator will provide individualized education and support to breastfeeding mothers. The CLE promotes breastfeeding and assists with facilitating change within the clinical settings using evidence-based care management. The CLE educates all mothers who are separated from their infants, e.g., premature infants to initiate hand expression and pumping, collection and storage of breastmilk immediately but within 6 hours after birth. The CLE will refer the WIC participant mothers to WIC and place referrals for those mothers that will need an electric breast pump for home use.
