Clinical Preceptor

The Registered Nurse Preceptor functions as a teacher and mentor in guiding, directing and supervising technical nursing activities of the nurse preceptee. Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice. Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.The Registered Nurse Preceptor is responsible for the oversight of the preceptee in delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
