Maintenance Mechanic- Operations & Maintenance

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne: We are currently seeking two, full-time, onsite Maintenance Mechanics in our Operations and Maintenance department. This position performs general maintenance and repairs buildings and equipment. The hourly pay is $18.50. Responsibilities: Respond to and prioritize daily work orders from campus service requests that are submitted. Repair and replace plumbing fixtures including faucets, urinals, etc. Repair, replace, and install lighting fixtures, bulbs, etc. Convert lighting fixtures to LED. Repair, lubricate, and adjust door hardware, hinges, closures, etc. Hang, mount, and fasten items, equipment, furniture, etc. Diagnose and investigate leaks. Perform preventative maintenance tasks on building equipment. Daily walk through of assigned building(s) and mechanical spaces. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED. 3 years of general building maintenance experience. Good mechanical aptitude. The ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull 25 to 50 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally. The ability to work at various heights on ladder, bucket trucks, etc. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check. Rotating weekends. Preferred Qualifications: Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and preventive maintenance experience. Commercial or industrial experience.
