Job Purpose
To develop and deliver a structured and engaging tennis program that supports physical development, technical skill, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The Tennis Coach will guide students at beginner through advanced levels and prepare them for intra-school and external competitions as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Instruction
- Deliver high-quality tennis coaching sessions tailored to various age groups and skill levels.
- Teach core tennis skills including grip, footwork, strokes (forehand, backhand, serve, volley), match strategy, and scoring.
- Create a supportive learning environment that promotes confidence, fitness, and enjoyment of the sport.
- Provide differentiated instruction for beginners, intermediates, and advanced players.
Program Development
- Design and implement a progressive tennis curriculum aligned with physical education standards and co-curricular goals.
- Organize training schedules, seasonal plans, and skill assessments.
- Introduce tactical, mental, and physical conditioning components appropriate to the developmental stage of students.
Competition & Events
- Prepare and coach school tennis teams for inter-house, inter-school, and regional tournaments.
- Organize in-school tournaments, ladder matches, and tennis clinics.
- Accompany and supervise students at external competitions or events.
Student Engagement & Support
- Identify and nurture talent for competitive tennis pathways.
- Foster values of discipline, resilience, teamwork, and fair play.
- Provide feedback and performance reviews to students and parents when required.
Facility & Equipment Management
- Oversee the maintenance and setup of tennis courts and related equipment.
- Monitor inventory of rackets, balls, nets, and other supplies, and coordinate equipment purchases.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during sessions and matches.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Head of Sports and PE Department to align the tennis program with broader school objectives.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff about schedules, progress, and events.
- Participate in faculty meetings, parent-teacher events, and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional tennis certification (e.g., ITF Level 1/2, USPTA, PTR, AITA, LTA, or equivalent)
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field (preferred)
- First Aid and CPR certification (required)
- 2–5 years of coaching experience, preferably with children and adolescents in a school or club setting
- Experience coaching competitive junior players (desirable)

- Integration of tennis into IB CAS, co-curricular, or wellness programs
- Experience in managing school tennis facilities
