Position Summary
Candiidus International School is seeking a qualified and experienced Social Science/Social Studies teacher to deliver instruction across both the Cambridge International (CIE) and CBSE curricula at the Secondary level. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons in History, Geography, Civics/Economics, and related humanities subjects, ensuring alignment with both curricular frameworks while catering to the differentiated learning needs of a diverse student body.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lesson plans for CBSE Social Science (History, Geography, Civics, Economics) and Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives, History, and/or Geography syllabi
- Prepare students for CBSE board examinations and Cambridge Checkpoint/IGCSE assessments, ensuring syllabus completion within academic timelines
- Design formative and summative assessments in line with CBSE and Cambridge assessment objectives (AO1, AO2, AO3 for Cambridge)
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and progress in the school's academic systems
- Participate in curriculum mapping and vertical alignment across grade levels
- Use varied pedagogical approaches — inquiry-based learning, case studies, source analysis, map work, and project-based assessments
- Collaborate with the Humanities department on cross-curricular initiatives and moderation of internal assessments
- Attend parent-teacher meetings, staff development sessions, and Cambridge/CBSE training workshops
- Support co-curricular activities, model UN, quizzes, and exhibitions related to social sciences
- Maintain student diaries/portfolios and address parent concerns promptly and professionally
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, or related Social Science discipline
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification mandatory
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience; prior experience with Cambridge International curriculum strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Cambridge assessment structures (Checkpoint, IGCSE) and NCERT/CBSE syllabus is essential
Desired Skills
- Strong subject knowledge across History, Geography, and Civics/Economics
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction for mixed-curriculum, mixed-ability classrooms
- Proficiency with digital tools for lesson delivery and assessment tracking
