CoreCivic is currently seeking Medical Records Supervisors who have a passion for providing the highest quality care in BRAND NEW Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) . SUMMARY: The Medical Records Supervisor provides supervision of medical records staff as well as administrative support, in the operation of the medical department by overseeing and performing varied and complex clerical and related administrative functions requiring independent judgment in the use of work methods and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. Supervise medical r ecords staff in the performance of their duties and evaluate a s prescribed by the facility and corporate policy . T his includes, but is not limited to, training new employees; evaluating performance and preparing written performance appraisals; listening to complaints and effectively resolving disputes or problems; taking corrective or disciplinary action; developing work schedules for subordinates; and approving leave requests. Supervise the maintenance of all medical records and m onitor the copying of records i n accordance with CCA policy. Create and m aintain medical records, general files, logs, and other related records and documents in an organized manner, to include sorting, labeling, f iling and retrieving, i n accordance with corporate and facility file retention and storage procedures; and m aintains confidentiality and security of records. Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records. Maintain a current inventory of clinic supplies; monitor compliance with sign in/out logs; prepare inventory reports as r equired . Monitor outside referrals and c oordinates transfer of medical records. Assist in the preparation of routine medical and dental reports. Input text accurately and produce finished documents efficiently using a typewriter and/or word processing and spreadsheet programs on a computerized system; copy, compile and distribute as necessary. Provide all needed assistance as requested by Warden, corporate Director, Medical Services or their designees to respond to inmate grievances, properly authorized attorney inquiries, and other health care matters. Using a ppropriate grammar and spelling, routinely compose and create documents from handwritten or typewritten copy to include letters, memoranda, reports, correspondence, forms, statistical data, etc. Independently edit documents making necessary corrections or revisions to include spelling, g rammar and sentence structure. Sort and distribute interoffice and in-coming mail to include certified and registered mail and packages i n accordance with all applicable rules and regulations; prepare and meter, if necessary, out-going mail and packages. Read and c omprehend medical instructions and procedures, correspondence, policies, regulations, reports, directions for f orms completion and other simple or moderately complex documents. Communicate effectively and coherently with staff, inmates/ r esidents and visitors; respond to verbal/written inquiries and requests or refer to a ppropriate staff member; answer telephone, route calls and/or take a ccurate and legible messages Thoroughly, n eatly and legibly complete required documents to include logs, forms, r ecords and reports. Monitor the area and make reliable visual identification of inmates/residents, authorized p ersonnel and other individuals to ensure safety and security. Engage in functions in confined areas that include such things as working various shifts and physically checking the doors, w indows and other areas to ensure they are secure. Endure verbal and mental abuse when confronted with the hostile views and opinions of inmates/residents and other, e .g. visitors and family members, e ncountered in an antagonistic environment . Endeavor to c omply with the requirements of applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, s tandards and/or contract requirements. Take a ppropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations. Establish and m aintain effective working relations with others and handle difficult interpersonal contacts. Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common f ractions and decimals. Compute rate, r atio and p ercent . Interpret a variety of instructions f urnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Participate in in-service and other training programs as r equired . Remain alert at all times and react quickly, efficiently and calmly in emergency and other high stress situations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Health Service Administrator.
