About The Role
JOB SUMMARY: The Utility Locators are responsible for pinpointing the paths of cables, pipes and other conduits that carry utilities underground. The locators’ efforts protect underground utilities from damage during projects involving excavation. PRINCIPLE DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify and map location and depth of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, oil and electric lines. Document interactions, site information and utilities in organizational software. Communicate with clients, engineers and management. Use a variety of techniques (electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and/or radar) to measure utilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ABILITIES: Basic PC skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook. Proficient in the use of materials, tools, and equipment commonly used in construction, maintenance, or repair of water distribution/wastewater collection systems. Valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License. Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules. Ability to obtain Class “D” Texas Water Operator’s License within one year.
