Job Description
The Flex Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Provider s and/ or a Medical Assistant s with the examination and treatment of GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radio l ogic diagnosis for our GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for perform ing and analyzing patient x-rays and repo rting results to Medical Provider s . Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operatio n of GoHealth Urgent Care Centers . In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.

The Flex RT does not anchor at a one particular urgent care site. The Flex RT works across sites in close proximity to one another. As patient care needs arise requiring X-ray, the Flex R T travels from to the respective site to render care. The travel nature of this role enables to Flex R T to be exposed to a variety of urgent care settings and maximizes quantity of X-Rays an RT performs.
Job Requirements
Education
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Work Experience
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required .
- Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required .
Essential Functions
- Responsible for x-ray services as needed
- Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
- Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
- Will need to push patient in a wheelchair
Patient Preparation and Rooming
- Inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit;
- Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.
- Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to providers.
Administrative
- Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care
- Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed
Other responsibilities include
- Medical Team Support : Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
- Patient Care: Explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering their questions.
- Patient Positioning: Accurately positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
- Image Production: Selecting proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images
- Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and managing necessary supplies.
- Radiation Safety: Adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and implementing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate patient records and logging of completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as required .
- Image Management: Verifying image quality and ensuring images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics
and patient movement.
- Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
Skills
- Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure required .
- Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisors.
- Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
