About The Role
Our client, Incisive, is growing again!
About Incisive
Incisive is building a better model for restorative dentistry. Independent practices are under pressure: lab consolidation is accelerating, digital dentistry has arrived but most practices are only halfway there, and building a complete workflow alone is expensive, slow, and isolating.
We solve that through one partnership: curated labs matched to specific case types, no-cost digital equipment, a portal to track every case and manage every invoice in one place, and a clinical support team to help. More than 650 doctors nationwide trust us, we retain over 95% of them year over year, and we're growing fast. If you have high standards and want to do work that compounds, you'll fit right in.
The Opportunity
We're hiring a builder, not a maintainer. You'll design and scale the B2B SaaS portal, infrastructure, and data products that are the connective glue for our organization. Jump in on this new and modern code base to rapidly deliver business and value.
This role is AI-native. Our team heavily adopts AI across all product development disciplines to deepen our impact and drive aggressive growth. Our tech stack is six months old and well-architected, with test coverage, observability, and CI/CD to allow for rapid onboarding and reduce developer time-to-value.
What You'll Do
Design, build, and maintain full-stack applications using React on the frontend and Python on the backend, with PostgreSQL as the primary data store
Architect and deploy scalable, secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, leveraging services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, and CloudFront as appropriate
Define and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to ensure reproducible, version-controlled environments across dev, staging, and production
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions to automate testing, builds, and deployments
Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD), writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests before or alongside implementation to ensure high code quality and confidence in releases
Apply Spec-Driven AI Development practices — writing clear, structured specifications that guide AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate implementation while maintaining code quality and architectural consistency
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into well-scoped technical specs
Conduct code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and help establish engineering best practices
Monitor application performance and reliability in production, using observability tools to proactively identify and resolve issues
Participate in architectural decisions, balancing scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed
Design and implement systems that handle Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in full compliance with HIPAA and other applicable data privacy regulations, incorporating encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, and audit logging by default
What You'll Bring
7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of production systems
Strong proficiency in React (hooks, state management, component architecture) and Python (e.g., FastAPI, Django, or Flask)
Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud architecture best practices
Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, or similar)
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining applications that securely handle PHI and/or PII, with working knowledge of HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar compliance frameworks and how they shape architecture, data storage, and access decisions
Strong understanding of and commitment to Test-Driven Development and automated testing practices
Experience using AI coding tools within a spec-driven workflow, with an ability to write precise, unambiguous technical specifications
Excellent written communication skills — critical for a remote, distributed team
Comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a fully remote environment
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Bonus if you have
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with security best practices for cloud-native applications
- Experience with observability/monitoring stacks (Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana)
- Prior experience in a fully remote, async-first engineering culture
What We Offer
- $160,000–$200,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
- 20% target bonus
- Meaningful equity participation in a PE-backed growth story
- Fully remote within the United States
Unlimited PTO
- Medical, dental, vision benefits
- 401k with company match
