The Opportunity
- This is a chance to step into a high-impact role working with some of New Zealand’s leading banks, insurance companies, funds and KiwiSaver providers.
- Whether you’re an accomplished Manager or a seasoned Senior Manager, you’ll lead complex engagements, develop high-performing teams, and build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders. You’ll also help shape how we deliver audit by combining rigorous standards with smarter, modern ways of working.

Day-to-Day You Will

- Lead end-to-end audit engagements across Financial Services, from planning and risk assessment through execution, review and finalisation.
- -
- Manage complex, higher-risk and non-routine audits, including technical accounting matters and judgement areas.

- Partner with client leaders (CFOs, Finance Heads, Risk and Audit Committees) to deliver clear, timely outcomes and practical insights.

- Identify audit and business risks and translate them into robust audit responses and value-adding recommendations.

- Assess the effectiveness of processes and controls, including environments with heightened regulatory expectations.

- Coach, mentor and develop teams to create a culture of quality, confidence and continuous improvement.

- Maintain exceptional audit quality, ensuring effective application of KPMG methodology, auditing standards and GAAP/IFRS requirements.

- Own client deliverables and engagement economics - scope, budgets, timelines, resourcing and stakeholder expectations.
- Contribute at the appropriate level to client relationship management, account planning and proposal activity, with scope increasing based on experience and role level.
- Play a broader leadership role as your level allows, including supporting practice initiatives, audit quality, people development and (at senior levels) market presence and thought leadership.
About You
- Member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) or relevant overseas professional body.
- Strong Financial Services audit experience, preferably in banking and/or insurance.
- 6+ years of post-qualification experience working to a senior level within a Big 4 environment.
- Experience with KPMG auditing software, specifically KPMG Clara is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple engagements, delivering to time, quality and budget.
- Strong technical and analytical capability, with the confidence to make sound judgements and communicate them clearly.
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build meaningful relationships with clients, teams and Partners.
- Experience with group reporting and accounting systems (advantageous).
- Experience with ICFR / US SOX would be advantageous.
