Position Overview
St. John's Lutheran School of Baraboo is seeking a dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic teacher for a 1st/2nd grade combination classroom. This is a full-time, salaried position with a competitive benefits package. Key Responsibilities
- Teach 1st and 2nd grade students in a combination classroom across core subjects using a Christ-centered approach
- Create a classroom environment that is nurturing, structured, and academically rigorous
- Integrate God's Word throughout the school day in age-appropriate, meaningful ways
- Develop yearly and weekly instructional and assessment plans
- Develop classroom schedules that coordinate with other classes and building needs
- Communicate openly and regularly with parents, administration, and fellow staff
- Foster and promote loving relationships with students, parents, and families
- Maintain confidentiality of all students, staff information, and records
- Keep accurate student attendance, discipline, and special needs records
- Participate in faculty meetings, in-service training, and professional development
- Assist in the development and improvement of school-wide curriculum
- Serve in at least one additional role outside the classroom (athletics, music, Sunday School, etc.)
- Contribute to the promotion of St. John's School in the greater Baraboo community
Qualifications
- An elementary or early childhood education degree
- Wisconsin state teaching certification (or actively pursuing)
- A genuine passion for working with young children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A member in good standing of a Christian congregation
- A commitment to living out Christian values as an example to students and families
- Active support of the mission and ministry of St. John's Lutheran Church & School
