About The Role

  • JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing nursing care to residents as prescribed by the
  • physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices, regulations, and directed by
  • the Director of Nursing. The RN Charge Nurse will lead or direct licensed and non-professional
  • staff in the delivery of direct resident care and support functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • ? Provide the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing
  • functions of patients in the unit
  • ? Make nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees
  • ? Maintain acceptable standards of patient care
  • ? Identify problems and guides personnel to their solution
  • ? Create a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel
  • ? Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders
  • ? Support and enforces infection-control policies and procedures
  • ? Use system to convey/receive resident information
  • ? Maintain a professional approach with confidentiality
  • ? Cooperate and maintain good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments
  • and visitors
  • ? Obtain and document nursing history from the patient and/or significant other that is
  • comprehensive of present condition and prior problems
  • ? Perform basic assessment of the patient, indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy,
  • physiology, and pathology
  • ? Record vital signs, note changes, and pursue more-specific investigation as needed
  • ? Assess for and notify physician and other appropriate parties of changes in condition
  • ? Use assessment information to develop a care plan before the end of duty time that
  • communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the
  • patient
  • ? Use care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patients
  • ? Consistently follow established standards, policies, and procedures in providing nursing
  • care
  • ? Accept accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of
  • nonprofessional personnel
  • ? Communicate with the patient and his or her family and other members of the health
  • care team in carrying out the goals of the care plan
  • ? Perform competently those technical skills considered basic to the type of care given in
  • that unit
  • ? Respond appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations
  • ? Support standards of nursing care through adherence to existing policies and
  • procedures
  • ? Seek guidance when encountering nursing procedures and responsibilities that have not
  • been mastered
  • ? Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests
  • ? Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
  • ? Use appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times
  • ? Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident
  • safety

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • ? Current RN license
  • ? CPR certified required; 30 days will be given to complete a course and get certified
  • ? Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
  • ? Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • ? Ability to be flexible and positive with intermittent interruptions

Preferred

  • ? 2 years nursing experience in long term care/skilled nursing
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to safely perform movements such as pushing,
  • pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable
  • accommodations
  • WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned, including some weekends, evenings and holidays
