About The Role
- JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing nursing care to residents as prescribed by the
- physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices, regulations, and directed by
- the Director of Nursing. The RN Charge Nurse will lead or direct licensed and non-professional
- staff in the delivery of direct resident care and support functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- ? Provide the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing
- functions of patients in the unit
- ? Make nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees
- ? Maintain acceptable standards of patient care
- ? Identify problems and guides personnel to their solution
- ? Create a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel
- ? Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders
- ? Support and enforces infection-control policies and procedures
- ? Use system to convey/receive resident information
- ? Maintain a professional approach with confidentiality
- ? Cooperate and maintain good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments
- and visitors
- ? Obtain and document nursing history from the patient and/or significant other that is
- comprehensive of present condition and prior problems
- ? Perform basic assessment of the patient, indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy,
- physiology, and pathology
- ? Record vital signs, note changes, and pursue more-specific investigation as needed
- ? Assess for and notify physician and other appropriate parties of changes in condition
- ? Use assessment information to develop a care plan before the end of duty time that
- communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the
- patient
- ? Use care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patients
- ? Consistently follow established standards, policies, and procedures in providing nursing
- care
- ? Accept accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of
- nonprofessional personnel
- ? Communicate with the patient and his or her family and other members of the health
- care team in carrying out the goals of the care plan
- ? Perform competently those technical skills considered basic to the type of care given in
- that unit
- ? Respond appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations
- ? Support standards of nursing care through adherence to existing policies and
- procedures
- ? Seek guidance when encountering nursing procedures and responsibilities that have not
- been mastered
- ? Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests
- ? Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
- ? Use appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times
- ? Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident
- safety
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- ? Current RN license
- ? CPR certified required; 30 days will be given to complete a course and get certified
- ? Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
- ? Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
- ? Ability to be flexible and positive with intermittent interruptions
Preferred
- ? 2 years nursing experience in long term care/skilled nursing
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to safely perform movements such as pushing,
- pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable
- accommodations
- WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned, including some weekends, evenings and holidays
