Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC) is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Venue Operations Assistants to support the delivery of events across our venue hire network.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work behind the scenes and front of house at a diverse range of events, from corporate functions and conferences to weddings, community events and galas.

About the role

As a Venue Operations Assistant, you'll play a hands-on role in delivering exceptional experiences across a diverse range of events. You'll be a key point of contact for facilitators, hirers and guests, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported while coordinating venue operations, including venue setup and pack-down, venue inductions and audiovisual support.

This is a casual position. Shifts will primarily be offered at the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre, with opportunities to work at other GRLC venues as operational needs require.

Key activities include

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to venue hirers, presenters and guests.
  • Prepare event spaces, including venue setup, furniture, staging and pack-down.
  • Operate and troubleshoot audiovisual and live streaming technologies.
  • Conduct venue inductions and safety briefings.
  • Support the successful delivery of corporate, commercial, community and internal events.
  • Maintain venue presentation, replenish consumables and assist with operational activities, including GRLC's Shelf Love retail range where required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and suppliers to create outstanding event experiences.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Experience in events, venue operations, hospitality, arts, conferences or a similar customer-focused environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Confidence using audiovisual technologies and providing technical support.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to solve problems and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including manual handling and event setup.

Availability requirements

To be considered for the role, applicants must be available for

  • A minimum of 10 hours per fortnight.
  • Availability that aligns with venue operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays.
