About the role | Mō te tūranga

We are seeking a friendly and organised Administration Officer to join our Northland laboratory team on a permanent part-time basis.

This is a varied and rewarding role within our Administration Department, where you will play a key part in supporting the smooth running of the laboratory. You will be responsible for ensuring patient and test information is accurately recorded, responding to telephone enquiries, assisting with local courier runs when required, and carrying out a range of general administrative duties as needed.

This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Hours of work: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 5 days per week. Standard 8-hour shifts rostered between 8:00am and 7:00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with a high level of attention to detail
  • Respond to telephone enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Monitor and manage incoming emails
  • Assist with occasional courier runs as required
  • Create patient lists and support the coordination of the home visit service
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the delivery of efficient, high-quality laboratory services

To be successful in this role you need to have

  • A motivated and reliable individual with strong attention to detail and a professional attitude is required.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, including a confident telephone manner.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work accurately in structured systems are required.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Able to work well under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Flexible, positive, and adaptable with a willingness to support continuous improvement.
  • Experience in medical or laboratory administration and knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage but not essential.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
