Position Summary

Reporting directly to the C3 Supervisor or Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA, also known as a Nursing Attendant (NA), provides direct care to assist the activities of daily living, observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status.

The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the appropriate interdisciplinary team-Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Allied Health (PT/OT/TA/SW). In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position always maintains professional and ethical standards. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary

  • Comprehensive Community Care (C3) Program – is a long-term maintenance and support program for older adults. The C3
  • program is uniquely modelled to support vulnerable, older adults residing in the community by providing timely, comprehensive
  • medical care that is integrated seamlessly across a wide spectrum of services. Services include recreation/social programs,
  • physical maintenance rehabilitation, primary medical care, and pharmacy services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required.
  • Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
  • Strong preferences for applicants who have interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to implement recreation programs.
  • Active and current registration with CLHA required.
  • Driver’s license required.
  • Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
  • Program specific training/experience is an asset.
