Job Description – AE&I Technician

Job Summary

The AEI Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation controls within a soybean processing facility. This role ensures reliable operation of equipment critical to production, safety, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including motors, drives, panels, and power distribution.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical components.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC and facility safety standards.

Automation

  • Troubleshoot and program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Maintain and optimize HMI systems and SCADA interfaces.
  • Support integration of new automation systems and upgrades.

Instrumentation

  • Calibrate and maintain sensors, transmitters, flow meters, temperature probes, and pressure

gauges.

  • Diagnose and repair instrumentation issues affecting process control.
  • Document calibration records and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or Automation

(or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical and control systems, preferably in food or agricultural

processing.

  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, P&IDs, and ladder logic.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and confined space

entry.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with soybean or grain processing equipment (e.g., extruders, dryers, centrifuges).
  • Knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
  • CMMS experience (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Work Environment

  • Industrial plant setting with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Rotating shifts or on-call availability may be required.
