About The Role
Our client is seeking an Employment Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join its growing Omaha office. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney focused on management-side employment law to become a foundational member of the firm’s employment practice and play a key role in its continued growth.
The successful candidate will work directly with senior partners while handling a mix of employment litigation, employer counseling, compliance matters, and workplace investigations. This role offers significant autonomy, direct client interaction, and a clear path toward leadership and partnership opportunities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong employment law experience, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in helping employers navigate complex workplace issues.
Responsibilities
Employment Litigation
- Represent employers in employment-related litigation matters
- Handle wrongful termination claims
- Defend discrimination and harassment claims
- Manage litigation strategy and case development
- Participate in hearings, mediations, and court proceedings
Employment Counseling & Compliance
- Advise employers on federal and state employment laws
- Counsel clients on workplace policies and procedures
- Draft employee handbooks and workplace policies
- Prepare employment agreements and related documents
- Provide day-to-day HR and employment law guidance
Administrative Proceedings
- Represent employers before administrative agencies
- Handle matters involving the EEOC
- Respond to state employment agency complaints
- Manage investigations and regulatory inquiries
Practice Development
- Build relationships with existing firm clients
- Assist in expanding the employment law practice
- Work closely with senior partners on strategic growth initiatives
- Participate in business development opportunities when appropriate
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of employment law experience
- Strong management-side employment law experience preferred
- Employment litigation experience
- Employment counseling and advisory experience
- Experience drafting employment-related documents
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Nebraska Bar admission or ability to obtain licensure
- Portable book of business is a plus but not required
