ResponsIbilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers related to the maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities.
  • Requisition of materials and supplies.
  • Supervise and support when needed the team in Heavy Duty Mechanics (HDM) to perform major and minor repairs, overhauls, and servicing on all types of engines.
  • Ensure that standards for safe working conditions are observed.
  • Supervise and support when needed the team in performing different maintenance services.
  • Train or arrange for the training of new workers if needed. Perform duties with no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity.
  • Supervise and support when needed the team in the inspection, test, and diagnosis of mechanisms, to detect malfunctions and ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Supervise and support when needed the team in the inspection and verification of dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory s pecifications.
  • Prepare inspection and work reports, and record details on prescribed forms by established p rocedures
  • Supervise coordinate, and support locomotive operation and testing on shoptracks
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Proven experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic with expertise in diagnosing and repairing various heavy equipment.
  • Related studies would be considered.
  • Proficient in using computerized and other testing equipment for fault identification.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with manufacturers' specifications and quality standards.
  • Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and equipment types.
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse team and adapt to changing priorities.
  • English proficiency is a must, French is an asset.
