About The Role

Our culinary team prepares fresh, high‑quality meals daily for multiple restaurants within our luxury senior living residence—and no two days (or menus) are ever the same.
In this role, you’ll work in an ever‑evolving kitchen where menus and recipes change regularly, offering the opportunity to grow your skills, stay inspired, and be part of an innovative culinary culture. You’ll help create memorable dining experiences for residents by preparing food with care, consistency, and attention to detail—while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and hospitality.

Part‑time shifts available. No late nights, Weeknight, Weekend and holiday availability is required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
- Knowledge and understanding of cooking techniques.
- Prior experience within a high-quality restaurant, country club, hotel or senior living company preferred
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, residents, and guests and to follow standardized recipes.
- Able to operate kitchen equipment and tools found within the hospitality/health care industry.
- Current sanitation certification
- Effective written communication skills, and the ability to read and interpret instructions.
- Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance, to provide timely service to internal and external customers and to support uninterrupted business operations.
- Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults and enjoy working with a senior population.
- Ability to work productively in a team environment
Preferred
- Formal culinary training.
- Prior experience within a high-quality restaurant, country club, hotel, or senior living company preferred.
- Basic knowledge of therapeutic diets, recipe ingredients, adherence to heart healthy guidelines and other dietary restrictions.
- Shifts vary, flexible in scheduling is preferred.
- English Language proficiency.

The hourly base wage range provided is a good faith estimate of what Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, certifications, years of experience, geographic location, and current market conditions. This position may be eligible to participate in Mather’s benefit plan and the Team Member Appreciation Fund, if applicable. Eligibility for benefits is dependent on employment status and hours worked per pay period. Hourly Pay Range
$21.50 — $24 USD

Mather Place is an independent living rental community for those 62 and better, located in the heart of Chicago’s North Shore in Wilmette, Illinois—a short walk from Old Orchard shopping center. Mather Place includes 179 independent living apartment homes, as well as two restaurants, a fitness center, an art studio, a library, and more.
