About The Role

We are looking for a reliable and experienced dog sitter to care for a highly energetic Border Collie. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, empathetic, and can manage last-minute requests while delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, safe, and compassionate care for the Border Collie during scheduled sittings, walks, and overnight stays where required.
  • Manage high-energy behaviours using positive training techniques and clear, consistent handling strategies to keep the dog safe and mentally stimulated.
  • Conduct pre- and post-walk checks, monitor the dog's health and behaviour, and report any concerns to the owner promptly.
  • Safely transport the dog to and from appointments, walks, training sessions, or social visits, ensuring secure restraint and clean, appropriate vehicle setup.
  • Administer basic medications or dietary requirements as instructed by the owner and follow written care plans precisely.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies; provide first aid and seek veterinary care when necessary, keeping the owner informed at every step.
  • Keep accurate records of walks, feeding, toileting, training cues, and any incidents; use the company’s reporting tools where provided.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with owners about schedules, behaviour observations, and any changes to the agreed plan.
  • Be flexible and available for occasional last-minute requests or schedule changes while maintaining reliability and punctuality.

Required Skills

  • Attention to detail — ability to follow care plans, notice subtle changes in behaviour or health, and keep precise records.
  • Communication — clear, timely updates to owners and colleagues, and the ability to explain behaviour and care recommendations.
  • Pet First Aid and Emergency Response — trained in basic canine first aid and confident in following emergency procedures.
  • Dog Handling and Behaviour Management — experienced with high-energy breeds; skilled in safe restraint, leash control, and positive reinforcement methods.
  • Time management — punctual and able to organise rounds, walks, and visits efficiently.
  • Customer Service — professional, polite, and focused on delivering excellent owner experience.
  • Safe Dog Transportation
