UCC Maintenance Technician I - Housekeeping

The Housekeeping and Maintenance Technician performs comprehensive facility cleaning and minor technical maintenance to ensure optimal building operations. Core responsibilities include heavy custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors, and deep-cleaning restrooms before, during, and after events. This role manages inventory, safely operates specialized cleaning machinery, and oversees temporary staff for quality control.

Additionally, the technician supports event logistics by setting up convention spaces, cleaning commercial kitchen equipment, and operating facility systems like HVAC, lighting, and plumbing. Technical and security duties include troubleshooting network-connected IP devices (printers and phones), managing security and fire alarm systems, conducting facility lockdown checks, and assisting the public. Seasonal and outdoor responsibilities involve general landscaping, sprinkler maintenance, and operating an ATV for weed control. Candidates must be comfortable using ladders and working at heights, possess basic computer skills, and be willing to work a flexible, event-driven schedule that includes nights and weekends.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance and custodial fields. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills will also be considered. Additionally, applicants must be available to respond to 24-hour emergency call-outs.

This full-time position offers $19.80 an hour, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
