THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you looking to run your own block and strengthen your animal management skills, Join Rangitaiki Stations EBS (Efficient Bull System) team and develop and grow your skillset as a beef finishing specialist supported by the farm ops manager
You’ll learn and develop your pasture and animal management skills within a supportive team, you will chase live weight production and proactively manage animal health, pastures and farm maintenance. Your day will be varied and practical.
You’ll also learn how we do things at Pāmu, using our systems and processes, with plenty of support along the way. We take health and safety seriously and make sure everyone gets home safe at the end of the day. With the support of an experienced Farm Operations Manager and access to professional development opportunities, this is a great step forward for someone ready to take the lead on a dynamic and progressive property.
THE FARM
Rangitaiki Station is Pāmu’s second-largest farm and New Zealand’s third largest, covering 7,802 ha and running a diverse mix of sheep, beef and deer. The scale and complexity of the station provides unique opportunities for professional development and large-scale impact.
As part of the station, the Bull Systems cover 2,500 ha comprised of intensive techno and cell systems. A team of seven finishes approximately 4,200 bulls each year.
Located near Taupō, the station features flat to rolling terrain at 650–900m ASL. Winters are long, but explosive spring growth offers great pasture potential. The full team includes 22 skilled and passionate staff working collaboratively across farm systems.
ABOUT YOU
You bring practical farming experience, a positive attitude, and an interest in learning more about intensive beef finishing systems. You’re comfortable working independently and as part of a team. You’re open to learning, motivated to build your skills, and keen to grow in a supportive environment.
This role could suit someone with beef or drystock experience, or someone from a dairy background who is keen to move into drystock farming. Many of the skills are transferable, and we’re happy to support the right person with training and development, whether you’re experienced or ready to take the next step.
You’ll ideally have
- A proactive approach to health, safety, and animal welfare
- Good planning, and record-keeping
- A current full NZ driver’s licence
- Be comfortable keeping accurate records and using farm technology (or keen to learn)
