Salary: Starting at $70,000 (higher based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Safety Specialist to support the implementation and daily execution of workplace safety programs within a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This hands-on role focuses on hazard recognition, employee engagement, safety compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout operations.
The ideal candidate will maintain a visible presence on the production floor, work closely with employees and supervisors, and help ensure safe and efficient workplace practices.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Monitoring & Employee Support
- Maintain a regular presence throughout production and fabrication areas.
- Observe daily work activities and identify potential safety hazards.
- Encourage employees to follow safe work practices and address unsafe conditions.
- Promote a positive, team-focused safety culture.
Inspections & Compliance
- Perform routine safety inspections and workplace observations.
- Document hazards and monitor corrective actions through completion.
- Assist with compliance to company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Recommend improvements that help reduce workplace risks.
Training & Safety Communication
- Assist with new hire safety orientation and onboarding.
- Support toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee training sessions.
- Provide day-to-day coaching on safe work practices.
- Help communicate safety expectations and company initiatives across all departments.
Incident Response
- Assist with reporting workplace injuries, incidents, and near misses.
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Help develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Follow up to ensure recommended improvements are completed.
Safety Program Support
- Maintain training records, inspection reports, safety documentation, and compliance files.
- Assist with internal audits and regulatory documentation.
- Support ongoing improvements to safety programs and workplace processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Risk Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field. Equivalent education and experience will also be considered.
- Two or more years of experience in workplace safety, EHS, manufacturing, industrial operations, or risk management is preferred.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build productive working relationships with employees and leaders throughout the organization.
- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, or similar credentials are preferred.
