About The Role

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Rheumatologist to join our leading healthcare facility. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with rheumatic, autoimmune, musculoskeletal, and inflammatory disorders. This role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong diagnostic abilities, and a patient-focused approach to delivering comprehensive rheumatology care using evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions, including inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and interpretation of laboratory and imaging results.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, clinical findings, and current treatment guidelines.
  • Manage conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, gout, vasculitis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and other autoimmune diseases.
  • Provide advanced care involving biologic therapies, immunomodulatory treatments, and disease-modifying medications where appropriate.
  • Perform joint assessments and therapeutic procedures, including joint injections and aspiration when required.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness, disease progression, and medication-related risks.
  • Provide preventive care, patient education, and lifestyle recommendations to improve long-term outcomes.
  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, immunologists, pain specialists, dermatologists, nephrologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication management, and disease prevention.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
  • Contribute to medical education, mentoring, and professional development activities.
  • Stay updated with advances in rheumatology, autoimmune disease management, and emerging therapies.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of postgraduate training in Rheumatology or Internal Medicine with advanced rheumatology specialization.
  • Board Certification, Fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Rheumatology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-specialty clinical experience as a Consultant Rheumatologist.
  • Extensive experience in diagnosing and managing complex rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of immunosuppressive therapies, biologic medications, and advanced treatment approaches.
  • Experience managing chronic and complex patient cases in a hospital or specialized clinical setting.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, diagnostic skills, and patient management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and continuous professional development.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
