The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a Coordinator – Marketing & Community Events to join the Community Services team. This role is responsible for leading marketing initiatives and supporting community events and activations at a premier civic and cultural facility.
The successful candidate will develop and execute marketing campaigns, create engaging communications, build community partnerships, and oversee community events from planning through execution. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys combining creativity with project coordination and community engagement in a collaborative public-sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, recommend, and implement marketing plans, strategies, and campaigns to promote a wide variety of programs, services, events, and community offerings.
- Create, edit, and coordinate print and digital marketing materials, including website content, social media content, photography, video, and basic graphic design.
- Manage and maintain social media channels, online presence, photo databases, and marketing assets, including capturing photos and videos and maintaining participant consent records.
- Plan, coordinate, and support community events and activations, collaborating with internal staff and external partners to ensure successful execution and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Prepare, recommend, monitor, and track event and activation budgets.
- Supervise, assign, and support the work of event staff and volunteers, while coordinating contractors such as performers, vendors, photographers, graphic designers, and other service providers.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments, community groups, organizations, and external partners to develop and promote community events and increase public engagement.
- Conduct community outreach and gather feedback to support continuous improvement of events, programming, and facility utilization.
- Prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence, and administrative documentation.
- Coordinate and lead marketing meetings as required.
- Participate in departmental and team meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of a two-year diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline, combined with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of marketing principles, communications practices, promotional methods, and event coordination.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations related to marketing and community events.
- Working knowledge of event booking systems such as Xplor and Momentus is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing plans and strategies.
- Experience creating and coordinating print and digital marketing materials, including basic graphic design and video editing.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and delivering community events and public activations.
- Ability to supervise event staff, volunteers, and contractors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with experience preparing reports, correspondence, records, and monitoring event budgets.
- Proficiency with digital marketing platforms, social media, website content management, photography, and video content creation.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check.
