What You Will Be Doing

  • Participates in project scoping, costing, and proposal preparation, and negotiations to the extent required.
  • Reviews assigned project(s) after award to define project scope, determine work procedures/sequences and develops schedules, budgets, staffing, and progress billing points.
  • Forms a project team and sees that responsibilities are assigned and the execution of tasks are begun and completed in accordance with schedule.
  • Submits documents to federal, state, and local authorities to obtain permits required.
  • Meets with Client as necessary during the development of a project to resolve issues and to obtain approvals at the project’s completion.
  • Maintains a continuing business relationship with clients as part of ongoing business development efforts.
  • Plans, organizes, communicates, and coordinates project engagements.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of project engagements including clients and project teams.
  • Prepares project opening orders, project outlines, project initiation, project schedules, project executions, and project closings.
  • Maintains Project Records.
  • Reviews project invoices for accuracy and develops associated progress reports.
  • Achieves project performance established for the engagement.
  • Achieves project objectives including quality/scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Works on the overall designs of projects for Louisiana DOTD and local municipalities as well as assists on other market projects.
  • Serve as Technical Task Lead on roadway design projects.
  • Works with younger designers and engineers on overall design for roadway projects.
  • Responsible for quality control, project completeness, budgets, schedules, and maintaining positive relationships with clients on assigned projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Construction Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years of highway design.
  • Professional Engineer license (PE).
  • Previous project management level experience.
  • Prior experience working for a transportation agency or consulting engineering firm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with the Louisiana DOTD including the Road Design Manual.
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation and OpenRoad Designer.
