Job Summary

The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping department, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This leadership role includes managing staff, controlling budgets, coordinating with other departments, and upholding the hotel’s brand standards and guest satisfaction goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Supervise daily operations of the housekeeping department.
  • Ensure rooms and public areas are cleaned and maintained to hotel standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and laundry facilities.
  • Implement procedures for lost and found items, linen handling, and sanitation.

Staff Management

  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate housekeeping staff.
  • Assign tasks and ensure optimal staffing levels for efficient operations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and labor regulations.

Inventory and Budget Control

  • Manage supplies and linen inventory; place orders as needed.
  • Monitor housekeeping expenses and assist in budget preparation.
  • Implement cost control measures without compromising service quality.

Guest Service

  • Respond promptly to guest complaints and requests.
  • Ensure all housekeeping staff uphold excellent customer service standards.
  • Work closely with the front office to coordinate room status updates.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of schedules, inspections, inventory, and maintenance needs.
  • Prepare reports on department performance, occupancy, and housekeeping status.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including maintenance, F&B, and HR.

Education & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of housekeeping supervisory experience in a hotel environment.

Work Conditions

  • Fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Requires standing, walking, and physical activity throughout shift.
  • May require weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Executive Housekeeper or similar role in a hotel setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, supplies, equipment, and OSHA standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office and hotel management software (e.g., Opera, PMS).
