Senior Data Engineer - GCP

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong Google Cloud Platform experience to join our team and contribute to the development, optimisation, and support of modern cloud-based data solutions. In this role, you will take end-to-end responsibility for building scalable data pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, and ensuring that data products meet high standards for security, performance, observability, and reliability. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, engineers, analysts, and stakeholders across different business domains.

• Build, optimise, maintain, and support existing and new data pipelines
• Develop scalable and reliable data solutions on Google Cloud Platform
• Manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
• Apply DevOps principles throughout the data product lifecycle
• Ensure that data products are independently deployable and meet defined standards for security, scalability, observability, and performance
• Collaborate with Product Managers and key stakeholders to define data product visions and identify new business opportunities
• Partner with product teams across different domains to enable data sharing and integration within a data mesh environment
• Drive continuous improvement of data engineering practices
• Identify and reduce technical debt
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of data engineering, analytics, and cloud technologies
• Several years of professional experience in data engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines
• Strong experience with Terraform and cloud infrastructure management
• Experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines
• Good understanding of DevOps principles and cloud-native engineering practices
• Experience designing secure, scalable, observable, and high-performing data solutions
• Ability to take end-to-end ownership of data products and technical solutions
• Experience working with cross-functional product and engineering teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to Have

• Experience with GCP services such as Cloud Run
• Experience with large-scale data processing technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Beam, or Hive
• Experience working with data formats and table technologies such as Avro, Parquet, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Hudi
• Production experience with dbt
• Knowledge of modern data governance, metadata management, and data cataloguing practices
• Experience with data visualisation tools
• Work on modern cloud-based data platforms and large-scale data solutions
• Collaborate with experienced data, product, and engineering teams
• Contribute to innovative data transformation and data mesh initiatives
• Develop your expertise in GCP, Terraform, DevOps, and modern data engineering technologies
• Be part of technically challenging and long-term consulting assignments
