About the role
This role is a key enabler of improved performance across the UK & Ireland Conversion and Corrugator assets. With a strong focus on 80/20 thinking, you will prioritise and drive improvements in the assets that deliver the greatest value to the business.
You will play a central role in delivering sustained, long-term performance improvements by sharing expertise, building strong relationships with operators and site leaders, enhancing processes, developing capability, and constructively challenging the status quo.
Success in this role will depend on your ability to leverage support from the wider business network to accelerate improvement. As such, building and maintaining strong internal relationships will be critical to maximising impact and delivering results at pace.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the working environment is safe as a precursor to all improvement activity
- Perform converting process assessments (record and provide best practices across the division)
- Assist plants across the packaging division implement process tools (ACE / PCA) and provide support
- Participate and animate converting technical trainings with site teams
- Provide ongoing support for Process control systems within box plants
- Understand What Good Looks Like, beyond the UK conversion and corrugator assets, and create a pathway to achieve it
- Enable sites to learn from each other, through structured networking events
- Act as an escalation point for problematic performance of machines
- Ensure DSS Way is used as a foundation to performance improvement
About You
- Degree in Engineering, Packaging Science, Materials Science, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing qualification desirable)
- Deep technical knowledge of corrugated board manufacturing, printing, conversion, and quality control
- Proven track record of leading operational improvement and achieving measurable improvements in productivity KPIs
- Strong leadership presence with ability to influence across matrixed and multi-site structures
- Highly analytical, data-driven, and able to translate complex issues into actionable insights
- Excellent communicator and collaborator, with a strong customer-facing orientation
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Demonstrated success working with both internal and external stakeholders.
