Position Title: Housing Maintenance Worker – Full Time Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of homes/units covering annual roof inspections and repairs, maintenance on all doors, exits, etc.
  • Develop and implement schedules and procedures for inspections and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Make adjustment and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • May perform minor carpentry or other trade work during home repair or renovation activities.
  • Work with the Housing Manager towards resolving issues concerning the existing low rental units.
  • Ensure that tenants and prospective tenants have a clear understanding of their rights, responsibilities and obligations.
  • Accompany prospective tenants on inspections of rental houses and collaborate with them on inspection finds.
  • Prepare and submit a written monthly activity report to the Housing Manager.
  • Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Housing Manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience in home renovation/repair industry or home/maintenance.
  • Completion of post-secondary school or trade school is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical (small pumps, motors, etc.)
  • Ability to perform physical/manual labour.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) and organizational skills
  • Good working knowledge of labour codes, particularly Occupational Health and Safety.

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Ontario Drivers License and use of personal vehicle.
  • Vulnerable Sector Security Clearance is required.
  • Must be able to work on-call/evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Hourly Wage: to be negotiated
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week.
