Assistant Project Manager – Civil

About The Role
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing construction projects throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Create, update, and maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, schedules, and project logs.
- Support project estimating by performing quantity takeoffs and preparing cost estimates.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure timely project execution.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress while identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Assist with contract administration, subcontract negotiations, and purchase orders.
- Review shop drawings and construction documents for accuracy and coordination.
- Support project closeout activities to ensure timely completion.
- Assist with constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
- Prepare project reports and maintain accurate project records using construction management software.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 2–3 years of experience working for a commercial, industrial, or civil general contractor; OR
- Minimum of 5 years of directly related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with civil estimating and contracting for a civil general contractor or subcontractor.
- Experience managing subcontractors and/or self-performed construction work.
- Working knowledge of commercial and institutional construction methods and site development.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, email, and construction management software.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IDIQ contracts.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current USACE/NAVFAC CQC certification.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Associate Constructor (AC) credential.
A grace period of up to six months may be provided to obtain required certifications or professional credentials.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk active construction sites, climb ladders and stairs, and perform site inspections on a regular basis.
