Business Development Director - Partnership

About The Role

  • As Business Development Director – Partnerships, you will be responsible for driving growth across Mondia’s EU and
  • GSA markets, based out of Madrid, by managing and expanding strategic partnerships. You will own the development
  • of a portfolio of key partners, ensuring strong relationships, continuous value creation, and revenue growth.
  • You will be responsible for making our existing partnerships more successful by improving their performance, finding
  • new ways to increase their business potential, and expanding where our solutions are available.
  • You will manage the full partner lifecycle, from building senior and C-level relationships and identifying growth
  • opportunities, through to negotiating commercial agreements and driving successful execution. Working closely with
  • Marketing, Product, Content, and Licensing teams, you will deliver differentiated, profitable solutions that maximise
  • partner engagement and accelerate Mondia’s growth in the region. As a team lead, you will oversee a Partnership
  • Manager and an Intern, providing direction, coaching, and support to maximise team performance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a portfolio of strategic partners across the EU and GSA markets, ensuring strong relationship management, partner satisfaction, and sustainable revenue growth.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise performance within existing partner deployments, improving adoption, engagement, revenue, and overall business impact.
  • Drive partner expansion by identifying new opportunities to extend Mondia’s footprint within existing organisations, including new business units, markets, channels, or tenant environments.
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies, defining objectives, action plans, and initiatives to achieve short- and long-term partnership and revenue goals.
  • Own revenue and partnership performance targets, including forecasting, pipeline management, and regular business reviews (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
  • Lead commercial discussions, negotiations, and contract renewals/extensions to maximise value creation for both Mondia and its partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including Business Unit Heads and C- level executives, to identify growth opportunities and strengthen strategic alignment.
  • Manage and coach a Partnership Manager and Intern, providing guidance, support, and ensuring effective execution of partnership objectives.
  • Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to inform partner strategies and identify new growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, Content & Licensing, and Innovation teams to develop differentiated solutions that increase partner value and drive profitability.
  • Analyse portfolio and partner performance, translating insights into actionable recommendations to improve results, expand reach, and accelerate growth.
  • Identify and secure new strategic partnerships where relevant, primarily with international mobile operators, to further expand Mondia’s ecosystem and market presence.

Competencies

  • Strong partnership management and growth mindset, with the ability to build trusted relationships, identify growth opportunities, and maximise value from existing strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and build credibility with senior stakeholders and C-level executives.
  • Strong understanding of content partnerships and digital services within the telecom operator ecosystem.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and executing strategic account plans that drive revenue growth, improve performance, and expand partnership opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of commercial performance, revenue optimisation, and key business metrics, with the ability to translate insights into actionable growth initiatives.
  • Experience in digital technologies, subscription services, content platforms, video, gaming, or loyalty ecosystems is highly desirable.
  • Client-centric approach, with the ability to understand partner needs, articulate value propositions, and develop solutions that create mutual business value.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, operate independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading and developing junior team members is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish and other regional languages are a plus.

Technical Competencies/Skills

  • Deep understanding of digital services, content partnerships, OTT platforms, subscription ecosystems, and mobile payment solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of the telecom operator ecosystem across EU and GSA markets, including partnership models, distribution channels, and opportunities to drive growth through digital services.
  • Strong existing network of senior relationships across digital platforms, and strategic content partners.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel), with disciplined use of Salesforce/CRM tools to manage partner relationships, opportunities, and performance tracking.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to present partner performance, growth opportunities, pipeline, and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, account management, or commercial roles, ideally within technology, digital services, content, or subscription-based businesses.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing strategic partnerships, improving partner performance, expanding business opportunities, and driving revenue growth.
  • Track record owning revenue targets, forecasting, and commercial performance, with the ability to identify opportunities to increase value from existing partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with C-level and senior executive stakeholders, influencing decisions and driving strategic alignment.
  • Strong understanding of digital services, OTT platforms, content partnerships, mobile payments, subscription models, and digital marketing strategies.
