About The Role

Instrumentation Engineering & Design Review

  • Review and approve instrumentation engineering deliverables for fired equipment and oil & gas projects.
  • Review and validate:
  • Instrument Datasheets
  • Hook-up Drawings
  • Junction Box (JB) Drawings
  • Cable Schedules and Cable Routing Layouts
  • Instrument Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.

Instrument Selection & Sizing

  • Develop, review, and optimize:
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Cause & Effect Matrices
  • Control Philosophies
  • Functional Design Specifications
  • Operating Narratives
  • Develop and review:
  • Boolean Logic Diagrams
  • Interlock Schemes
  • Burner Management System (BMS) Logic
  • Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Systems
  • Safety Shutdown Functions

PLC & Automation Systems

  • Support PLC and control system integration activities.
  • Review and validate:
  • I/O Lists
  • Control Logic
  • Functional Design Documentation
  • PLC Architecture
  • Communication Interfaces
  • Participate in:
  • Logic Validation
  • Internal Design Reviews
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Functional Testing Activities

Process Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable international standards including:
  • NFPA
  • IEC
  • ISA
  • API
  • Support implementation and review of:
  • Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF)
  • SIL-based Safety Systems (Preferred)
  • Process Hazard Mitigation Strategies
  • Promote safe engineering practices throughout project execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Project Management, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Interface with customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and global Zeeco engineering teams.
  • Provide technical support during project execution, commissioning, and startup activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in Controls & Instrumentation Engineering within:
  • Oil & Gas
  • Refining
  • Petrochemical
  • Process Industries
  • Fired Equipment / Combustion Systems
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation design and process control systems.
  • Experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with control valve sizing and instrument selection.
  • Strong knowledge of process safety and shutdown systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Burner Management Systems (BMS) - Preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience with Fired Heaters, Industrial Burners, Thermal Oxidizers, Boilers, or Combustion Systems - Preferred but not mandatory
  • Exposure to SIL Studies, LOPA, and Functional Safety Engineering.
  • Experience with major PLC platforms such as:
  • Allen-Bradley
  • Siemens
  • Schneider
  • Emerson
  • Honeywell
  • Yokogawa
  • Experience supporting FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities.
