The Work
This role plays a key role in securing EQB’s Digital Banking and Channel Technology assets. It provides proactive input into the design and implementation of security controls within the Digital Banking technology architecture and acts as a primary security advisor to Digital Banking & Channel Technology teams. The Associate Principal Architect, Security supports the integration of security by design and secure development practices across customer-facing platforms and back-end infrastructure. This role also contributes to the development of security frameworks, collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, and helps ensure that security requirements are embedded early and effectively in the solution lifecycle.
The Core Responsibilities!

Supports the Digital Banking & Channel Technology team by providing security advisory services and collaborating with leadership to align security practices with business outcomes.

Assists in onboarding to appropriate security services as needed.

Coordinates with Cyber Subject Matter Expert teams and Digital Banking & Channel Technology teams to facilitate security engagements.

Contributes to the design of security controls for Digital Banking & Channel Technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with risk and compliance requirements.

Collaborates with Digital Banking & Channel Technology and business teams to support implementation and remediation of security controls.

Assists in developing tools and documentation to help teams embed security into development and operational practices.

A college diploma or university degree in computer science (or related course) or Industry recognized certifications (e.g. CISSP) with 5 years cyber security experience is required.

Minimum of 6 years of technical IT experience.

Minimum of 4 years of Cyber Security experience.

Experience with consumer banking platforms (frontend and backend) is preferred.

Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, controls and practices

Strong DevOps / development or security architecture knowledge, (prior hands-on technology engineering experience is preferred)

Microsoft Azure solutions Architect expert, Microsoft Cyber security Architect Expert, Sherwood Applied Business Security Architecture (SABSA) Foundation, Practitioner or Master level designations, TOGAF certifications are a plus

Strong experience architecting and implementing solutions in Cloud environments (Microsoft Azure)

Strong experience with APIs, containers and CMS or security consulting for similar solutions.

Strong experience documenting architecture flows and diagrams.

Good knowledge of cyber threats, risks and control design best practices. Preferrable to have experience in threat modeling or risk assessments.

Process design and implementation experience is a plus
