About The Role

Job Summary

This role is for an Automation and Mechanization Manager, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to enhance manufacturing and packing operations through advanced automation technologies. The position aligns automation initiatives with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories’ operational goals, identifying opportunities for mechanization, evaluating emerging technologies, and defining implementation standards and best practices. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional project teams, overseeing the design, integration, and commissioning of automated systems, and ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements. The role also focuses on optimizing existing systems, developing control interfaces, and driving continuous improvement across facilities.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for developing a comprehensive automation and mechanization strategy aligned with Dr. Reddy's Laboratories' operational goals and long-term business objectives.
  • You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for automation across manufacturing and packing processes, and evaluating emerging technologies for potential implementation.
  • You will be responsible for leading cross-functional project teams—including internal engineers and external vendors—to execute automation and mechanization projects on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, integration, and commissioning of automated systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • You will be responsible for optimizing existing automated systems to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency, while implementing control systems, software, and HMIs.
  • You will be responsible for providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to site engineering teams, and facilitating knowledge sharing across facilities.
  • You will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs on automation technologies, standards, and best practices to build internal capabilities.
  • You will be responsible for promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by piloting new automation concepts, participating in industry forums, and staying current with technological advancements.
  • Educational qualification- Graduation in Mechanical, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Mechatronics or related field is mandatory
  • Minimum work Experience- 12+ years of experience

Critical exposures

  • 5+ years experience in automation projects for high-impact manual operations to improve productivity, quality, and compliance is desired.
  • Experience in identifying and collaborating with automation partners for turnkey solutions and equipment aligned with plant requirements is desired.
  • Experience in troubleshooting critical automation systems to ensure high availability and root cause identification during breakdowns is desired.
  • Exposure to Industrial Automation and Control Systems (E.g. MES, EMS, BMS, DAS, and SCADA) to enhance process automation is preferred.
