The Department of Engineering at Abilene Christian University seeks an energetic, talented engineer for a non-tenure track faculty position to assist in the development and growth of the electrical and mechanical engineering degree programs at ACU. This position offers excellent opportunities to contribute to and shape our hands-on engineering education through curricular development, classroom instruction, student mentorship, and potential administrative leadership.

Typical Duties
- Teaching & Instruction
- Effectively teach discipline-specific courses in electrical or mechanical engineering, as well as a variety of foundational, lower-level general engineering courses.
- Develop instructional methods and experiential learning activities that reflect current best practices in engineering pedagogy.
- Partner in the continuous improvement of teaching, coursework, and laboratory facilities to support ABET accreditation efforts.
- Mentorship & Student Engagement
- Mentor engineering students in their academic progress, career planning, and professional development.
- Supervise and guide student teams through the completion of their senior capstone design projects.
- Serve as a faculty advisor for student professional organization chapters and student design teams.
- Departmental Support
- Participate in program development, curriculum refinement, and departmental committee service.
- Assist with administrative duties, laboratory management, or industry outreach initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering , or a closely related field (e.g., aerospace, chemical, computer engineering, materials science, mechatronics, nuclear, or systems engineering).
- Demonstrated record of effective communication, teamwork, and planning skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Classroom and laboratory teaching experience at the university level.
- 5+ years of professional engineering industry experience.
- Coursework or formal training in engineering education pedagogy.
- Demonstrated experience in course design, lab creation, and curriculum development.
- Professional engineering licensure (PE) or ability to obtain one.
