About The Role

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Consultant / Specialist Ophthalmologist to join our Ophthalmology Department. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical eye care, delivering exceptional patient outcomes while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions affecting the eye and visual system.
  • Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures, including cataract surgery and other procedures within the scope of expertise.
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Diagnose and manage conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, corneal diseases, retinal disorders, and ocular emergencies.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic nurses, endocrinologists, neurologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, and preventive eye care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and clinical standards.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing medical education.
  • Mentor junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and professional development activities where applicable.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology.
  • Valid medical license or eligibility for licensure in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience as a Specialist or Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist.
  • Expertise in comprehensive ophthalmic diagnosis, medical management, and surgical procedures.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
