About The Role

Why join us?

We’re a global tech company, just not the kind you’re picturing.

Sure, we’ve got catered lunches, team events, cool merch, and yes... dogs in the office. But that’s not why people join.

Our team of nearly a thousand people wakes up every day to make our product and our customers’ lives better. At SafetyCulture, you’ll hear “yes, let’s give it a shot” more often than “that’s not how we do things here.”

People join because we’re building tools that make work better for the 3 billion people who keep the world moving - factory floor operators, baggage handlers, truck drivers, servers, store assistants. The ones who make things happen. We’ve got the scale and innovation you’d expect from big tech. The difference? No endless layers of sign-off. No corporate theatre. Just smart, experienced people solving real problems fast .

The scale is big. But the ownership’s personal. Every full-time team member gets equity - real skin in the game. When we grow, you do too. We’re not perfect, no company is. But this next chapter of our growth is about scaling with intelligence, not just size - fueled by operational maturity, a clear vision, and a strong focus on AI.

This is big tech impact, without the big tech ick. If that excites you more than it scares you, you’ll fit right in.

What you'll work on

-

Help design and build an ecosystem for MCP-based and other data connectors that extend our platform-level AI agentic capabilities into third-party and internal systems.

-

Contribute to the shared foundational platform that supports our integrations as they scale (we’re always thinking about things like authentication, permissions, rate limiting) .

-

Support and evolve our existing integrations, automations, webhooks, and public API.

-

Work with billing engineers and stakeholders on integrations that target enterprise-grade tiers, including usage-based billing and tiered rate limits.

-

Build with enterprise-grade fundamentals in mind, since our larger customers run complex environments and expect standards like single sign-on (SSO), System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM), and solid data governance.

-

Take ownership of features from inception to delivery, working directly with stakeholders, product, and design.

-

Participate in code review, testing, and improving how the team works.

-

Keep user experience in mind, even in platform-facing work.

What we're looking for

We're less focused on specific technologies and more on how you think and operate. That said, a few things will help

Must-haves

-

Solid experience in a strongly-typed backend language – Go is our primary stack, though we care more about strong fundamentals than specific Go experience. Comfort working in frontend and infrastructure when needed, with a backend focus overall.

-

Strong design patterns and distributed systems thinking – able to consider design trade-offs and business constraints with the team, and comfortable proposing a better approach rather than just working through assigned tickets.

-

Practical experience building third-party integrations of meaningful complexity, whether at work or in personal projects – for example, webhook handling, working with external APIs, or sync and Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) pipelines.

-

Thrives working with ambiguity, including some genuinely open-ended areas where you'll help define the direction rather than follow an existing one.

-

Experience using AI tools as part of your regular development workflow, and an interest in helping the team improve how it uses AI.

Great to have

-

An understanding of authentication and authorization patterns – API key management at minimum, OAuth is great, and any exposure to SSO, Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), or SCIM is a plus.

-

Direct experience with one or more enterprise business systems and orchestrators - we use SSO/SCIM, Temporal, Workato, Salesforce, Zuora, and OpenMeter, but we'd equally value hands-on experience with comparable systems in workflow orchestration, iPaaS/automation platforms, CRM, or billing platforms.

-

Curiosity about business growth and commercial constraints – you don't need a commerce background, but interest in how pricing, packaging, and go-to-market motions (product-led vs. sales-led growth) shape engineering decisions will go a long way here.

-

Experience leading a feature end-to-end, including stakeholder interactions and keeping delivery on track.

-

Participation in guilds, working groups, or similar communities of practice.

-

Familiarity with relational data stores (PostgreSQL or similar) and an understanding of distributed systems and datastore design principles.

Team dynamics

-

The current team is backend-leaning, but people pick up frontend and infrastructure work as needed.

-

We use AI tools across the software development lifecycle, and we're open to new ideas on how we use them.

-

We work closely with the Billing team and often collaborate on pricing and packaging-related work.

A note on level

This is an Software Engineering II role, but we're open to someone earlier in their growth curve who's showing strong signals toward senior — self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity, and willing to work in areas they haven't touched before.
