About The Role

Join us in Revolutionizing Supply Chains

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join us on a freelance basis, starting as soon as possible, to help untangle some of our most complex product challenges. This isn’t a brand, UI-polish, or visual-design role - we need someone who thrives on structuring ambiguity and solving hard, systemic product puzzles in a B2B SaaS environment. Making the global food supply chain more sustainable is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Simvia is on a mission to make food and beverage supply chains safe and sustainable. We give buyers and producers clear insight into their sustainability and food safety requirements, so they can meet market standards simply and efficiently.

About Simvia

We are committed to transforming global supply chains, making them more transparent, sustainable, and safe. Our team is building the world’s largest food and beverage network to empower buyers, retailers, and wholesalers with insights that ensure food safety and sustainability. Together, we are enabling trade to become a force for good once again. With a dynamic team of 65+ people from more than 28 nationalities, we currently manage €100 billion in agricultural goods and serve clients across 100 countries.

About the role

You’ll sit within one of our three product teams - this one is building a simple, delightful solution for PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) compliance. It’s a young, fast-moving area of the product with real complexity underneath: multiple stakeholders, incomplete data, and regulatory nuance that needs to be translated into something genuinely usable.

This role is a temporary back fill to cover capacity while a team member is on leave and is expected to run at least 3 months, with the possibility of extending to around 6 months depending on how the work develops. We’re open to discussing ramp-up or transition arrangements around the 3-day/week minimum. This role requires regular office attendance in Amsterdam, within a hybrid work setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Untangle complexity. Work through ambiguous, multi-stakeholder problem spaces and shape them into clear, workable product solutions - not just clean interfaces.
  • Partner closely with the team. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to design flows that hold up against real regulatory and operational complexity.
  • Prioritise substance over polish. Focus on solving the underlying product problem; visual design and brand consistency are secondary to getting the logic and flow right.
  • Bring senior judgment. Push back constructively, flag risks early, and help the team make sound tradeoffs given the pace of a scale-up.
  • Contribute pragmatically. Produce the artefacts needed to move fast - from rough flows to more refined prototypes - right-sized to the stage of the work.

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years of product design experience, with a strong track record designing B2B SaaS solutions in high-complexity environments .
  • Proven ability to solve complex product puzzles - this role is about problem-solving, not brand, strategy, or UI craft.
  • B2B SaaS experience is a must; prior experience in a scale-up environment is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable operating independently and embedding quickly into an existing team and codebase of decisions.
  • Available for a minimum of 3 days per week , on-site in Amsterdam; open to discussing ramp-up or transition timing.
