Job Description

Instruct various courses in the Criminal Justice curriculum. Positions are usually open in the evenings, however, day-time slots are sometimes available. Courses could be face-to-face or web courses. Must prepare syllabus and lesson plans according to curriculum and board policy standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. * Working knowledge of Bloom’s Taxonomy. * Working knowledge of of the careers in criminal justice. * Knowledge of Blackboard.
  • Good oral and written communication. * Good organizational skills. * Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adhere to student learning outcomes and course goals/objectives. * Ability to teach online and in the classroom to students with differing learning styles. * Ability to motivate students in online and classroom learning environments. * Ability to adopt and incorporate new and innovative teaching elements and technologies into online and classroom courses. * Ability to manage online and face-to-face classroom environments. * Ability to advise students with course selection . * Ability to build and strengthen community relationships in the criminal justice field.

Essential Functions

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Masters degree in Criminal Justice or related field, OR Masters degree plus 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice related topics.
  • Preferred candidate would have a master’s degree as indicated above and have extensive field experience
