This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by managing and coordinating all daily activities of the department, including scheduling, performance improvement, and daily problem solving.
Job Description
Job Duties
- Ensures that all accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families and co-workers at handoffs and other times as needed. Take all measures necessary to ensure that the appropriate and involved parties have communicated necessary information in order to allow for the best possible patient outcome.
- Manages and coordinates all daily activities of department.
- Completes Performance Evaluations for staff.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of EPIC, PACS, Workday/Shift Wizard, and other computer software as assigned.
- Completes staffing schedules for optimal coverage for all assigned locations.
- Contributes to the efficient operation of the department ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care.
- Promotes a positive work environment supporting positive working relations and building an effective team.
- Assists with software updates and/or preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Works closely with the Director of Radiology and Radiology Managers to identify and implement process improvements and introduce new operational procedures.
- Performs all duties as stated for department job descriptions.
- Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
Department Specific Duties
CT
- Performs examinations according to established protocols
- Reviews patients orders and request with radiologist to ensure the proper examination is completed and diagnostic results are obtained.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with personnel.
- Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all patients, visitors and staff.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Professional Experience
CT
- 2 years of CT experience required.
Education
- Education sufficient to obtain required licensure/certification.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
- Basic Life Support, in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
- Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporting.
CT
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists CT (ARRT(CT)) certificate within 6 months.
- Iowa Department of Public Health State Permit to Practice.
Physical Requirements
Heavy: Exert 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently
