About The Role

The Division of Seniors Health in the Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time associate. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to work with a highly specialized multi-disciplinary team with a keen focus on seeking to define a centre of excellence for senior’s care. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees with options to apply under an ongoing alternative funding plan are available.

The successful candidate will join the Division of Geriatrics presently staffed by six geriatricians with exciting opportunities for clinical work at a time when innovative re-design and provision of new services are planned or taking place.

Accountabilities

  • Rotation comprises inpatient on-call coverage at Osler’s two acute sites (Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital) and outpatient clinic services to six sub-specialized geriatric clinics at Peel Memorial
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Geriatric Outreach Team and the NP led outreach to long-term care homes.

About the program

The Seniors Health Program offers comprehensive, person-centred care tailored to adults aged 65+ across Brampton, Etobicoke and surrounding communities. Osler’s dedicated seniors’ services include acute care for the elderly, geriatric emergency management, behavioural interventionists, geriatric outreach teams and a wide range of specialized clinics focused on falls, frailty, memory, continence, Parkinson’s and more. Through the Centre for Seniors and Rehabilitation, a multidisciplinary team provides thorough geriatric assessments, coordinated care plans and supports that help seniors maintain independence and improve quality of life. Many services are covered by OHIP and are delivered with a senior-friendly approach in partnership with community health providers .

  • Certificate of Registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Certification in Geriatric Medicine from the College of Physicians of Canada or hold a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population)

Osler is a primary clinical partner for Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine and is an academic community partner with the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine and McMaster’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Successful applicants are expected to have a faculty appointment at an affiliated medical school. Make an impact, lead and go beyond at Osler.
