About The Role
New instructors welcomed! We also welcome applications from archery enthusiasts who would like to become trained instructors for Fargo Parks District recreation programming.
The Archery Instructor leads beginner-level archery classes for youth and/or adult participants through Fargo Park District Community Education programs. Instructors create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where participants can learn fundamental archery skills, proper technique, and range safety.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about archery and enjoy teaching others in a hands-on, recreational setting. Instructors will work with program staff to schedule classes and deliver quality instruction that meets the needs of beginner participants.
Currently Seeking an instructor for
- Tuesday evenings
- Sept 10-Oct 13; Nov 5-December 10 (no class Nov 26); and Jan 19-Feb 18
- Approximately 5:00-8:00 pm
- Additional hours may be available fall/winter 2026 and also spring/summer 2027
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead beginner archery classes
- Teach basic archery skills, including stance, aim, and shooting technique
- Ensure range safety procedures are followed at all times
- Set up and take down archery equipment before and after classes
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and individual feedback
- Create a positive and encouraging learning environment
- Communicate with program staff regarding scheduling and class needs
Requirements
Minimum Age: Must be 18 years of age or older
Certification Requirement: Must have or be willing to obtain a Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) certification. Fargo Parks will provide certification opportunities for selected candidate(s).
Background Check: Must able to pass a background check, according to Fargo Park District Policies.
Physical Requirements
Ability to actively participate in archery instruction and range setup. This position may require
- Standing for extended periods during classes
- Demonstrating archery techniques
- Setting up and transporting equipment (up to approximately 25–30 pounds)
- Working indoors and/or outdoors in varying conditions
