Position Summary
The Laboratory Assistant is part of a critical team that conducts analyses on radon for our Laboratory Operations. This role is responsible for sample intake and login, laboratory benchwork and analysis, sample data entry, customer service, and clerical work as needed to support the department.
Essential Functions
- Assist the technician team in the preparation and process of laboratory samples.
- Conduct routine tests and experiments following established protocols.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.
- Record and manage data from experiments and tests.
- Record and manage data from experiments and tests.
- Submits data from samples for review and returns samples for archiving according to laboratory protocols.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Maintains clean lab areas, supplies and glassware, and sample disposal.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize tasks, in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel skills, including experience with complex financial spreadsheets.
- Ability to work with Company’s Executive management.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a professional laboratory environment. The role routinely uses standard laboratory equipment. Additionally, this job will split time in an office environment while routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Prolonged periods of standing.Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field, preferred.
- Three to six months of laboratory experience desired.
