Job Summary
The Vice President, Depository Payment & Transformation will lead the newly established Payment & Transformation team within Depository & Participant Services (DPS) driving strategic transformation, modernization and business growth initiatives in support of HKEX's evolving post-trade landscape. The role will be responsible for leadership function providing dedicated ownership for strategic project and initiatives, USM fee and payment processes, market-facing stakeholder engagement, cross-asset class support and broader digital transformation agenda.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening leadership capacity, increasing accountability and enhancing organizational agility while focusing on developing high-potential talent, accelerating AI and automation adoption and developing future leaders, preserving institutional knowledge and building a scalable, resilient and future-ready operations capable of supporting growing market complexity and HKEX's long-term strategic ambitions.
Job Duties
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the Depository Payment & Transformation team, providing strategic direction, people leadership and execution oversight for transformation, modernization and business growth initiatives.
- Drive post-implementation optimization including operational readiness, governance, testing, stakeholder coordination and continuous process improvement.
- Assume end-to-end ownership of fee and payment-related processes including payment operations, fee collection, exceptions handling, operational controls and market implementation.
- Act as the primary liaison with Share Registrars, regulators, market participants, and external stakeholders representing DPS on strategic, operational and market infrastructure initiatives.
- Lead major business projects and strategic initiatives related to post trade and cross-asset class developments by providing guidance and direction to align with the business and market dynamic.
- Drive overall AI, digitalization and modernization agenda including process automation, chatbot deployment, paperless initiatives, robotics, intelligent document processing and AI-enabled operational solutions.
- Develop and maintain future-state operating models, governance frameworks, operational playbooks, procedures and control standards to support sustainable business growth and regulatory compliance.
- Partner closely with business, technology, risk, compliance, and operations teams to identify transformation opportunities, improve operational efficiency and strengthen organizational capability.
- Build and develop high-potential talent, strengthen succession planning, facilitate structured knowledge transfer and mitigate key-person dependency risks.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, operational excellence and enterprise leadership, ensuring business and operations remains resilient, scalable and future-ready.
Job Requirements
- University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Technology or a related discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 8 years in a senior leadership or management role within financial services, market infrastructure, logistics and supply chain, vault management or other highly regulated operational environments.
- Proven track record in leading large-scale transformation, modernization, operational excellence, or strategic change programs with measurable business outcomes.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities with experience developing future leaders, building high-performing teams, and driving organizational change.
- Excellent project and stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate effectively across senior management, regulators, external partners and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while delivering results, balancing long-term vision with disciplined execution and operational practicality.
- Strong commercial acumen and business judgment with experience assessing complex issues, managing risk and developing scalable business solutions.
- Passion for innovation, technology and continuous improvement with experience driving digital transformation, automation, AI adoption or process redesign initiatives.
- Highly entrepreneurial, resilient and outcome-oriented with the ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced and evolving business environments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills with fluency in English and Chinese; proficiency in Putonghua is preferred.
